PERSONAL OPINION 

From my personal viewpoint I reckon that the blog is a good idea to improve our writing and  fluency. However, sometimes, it has been very difficult to think about how to develop a concrete topic because I did not know if what I wanted to say was right. All in all, I would undoubtedly recommend this kind of practice to language learners.

From my very personal point of view the blog has been a tedious job because  most of the times I did not know what to write. Especially when I was asked about what I did during the week to improve my English, I have written very similar things in all my entries because each week I did the same.

Colours

WHAT COLOURS MEAN

Red  is associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love.

Orange  is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.

Yellow is  associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy.Green is the color of nature. It symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety. Dark green is also commonly associated with money.

Blue  is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.

This is a picture in which the colour pink dominates the whole photograph.

MAKING DECISIONS

I have watched this film last sunday, it is the typical film that everybody see in this time of the year, Christmas.
It is a familiar comedy that can entertain anyone, it is funny, exciting and it evenincludes some sad moments.
I have watched this film serveral time but I laugh again every time I see it.

These are my essensial for the last moth regarding clothes.

Military boots are my favourite shoes right now. These are perfect for this time of the year, I do not feel cold and they are aesthetically beautiful and they combine with any clothes. 

This is my second essential, a red jersey, it is perfect for this time of the year, Christmas. Besides red suits everybody very well and you can combine it with almost any clothes. Furthermore, it is very elegant.










This week I have listen a lot of music, in English of course.

In my opinion, this article on the meaning of the most popular colours is very interesting. It gives us the opportunity to know their optimistic and pessimistic meaning very directly, without having to waste our time reading a story of 300 words. All in all, it is worth reading.


COLOUR DOMINATING THE SCENE 

"The Starry Night" by Van Gogh  is one of my favorite paintings ever. I consider that in this specific painting colour undoubtedly dominates the scene. The sky, painted with different blue, white and yellow tonalities attract anyone´s attention by only taking a superficial look. After admiring it by a few minutes, we finally kept trapped by all the different colours which invade this painting, making clear that  there is nothing better than looking at the sky.

This is an advertisement from EF Educucation First, it is a website that allows study English in countries where English is spoken, It is a amazing oportunity to grow up as a person but also as a English lover. However, it is not accessible to all of us because of its cost.
Maye the cost is fair, however a lot of people cannot afford it and lost such a big opportunity like this one. From my opinion the format of this program is amazing but we need a cheaper alternative.



This week I have watched a film called Dirty Pretty Things in English and with subtitles in English too. Furthermore I have listened a lot of music in English as always.

MAKING DECISIONS

COCO

Coco, the last Disney Pixar film, is one of those films with which falling in love is nothing but easy. Since the very first moment I saw its trailer, I was captivated by its colors and by the story it tells. Miguel is a Mexican common boy who loves music, something apparently normal. However, his family, a traditional shoemaker one, hate music and will not let Miguel become a musician. Miguel would have to fight for his dreams facing many exciting adventures.
Many people could think that it is a film created exclusively for children; nothing could be further from the truth. Coco teach us many important family values that makes us meet ourselves back with our own roots in a very emotional way.
Personally talking, I consider that Coco is one of the most beautiful and teaching films that I have seen recently and I would recommend everybody to watch it almost once in their lives because I know for sure that you will not regret it.

Since I was a child, studying in the United States for some time has been one of my biggest dreams. These three links take us to different websites which provide us with information about studying abroad in the States. From my very personal viewpoint, I consider that studying abroad at least for a few months could be very appropriate for people studying some language; I reckon that it could be very beneficial in order to acquire fluency and also to improve our pronunciation. Learning a language in the place where it is spoken has to be undoubtedly amazing and really enriching. Moreover, if English were the chosen language, we could choose between many different places depending on our preferences were we could explore and discover new ways of living, traditions and culture, in summary, something priceless.

What I have done this week to improve my English 

This week I have read a lot of articles related to racism in order to do a essay for Cultural Identity. It was reallly rewarding because apart from learning English I have learnt a lot of different cultures and lifestyles.

URBAN LIVING

Living in the New York City at the age of 50 would be a very different task, because of the hustle and bustle thing that is present in big cities like this one. New York is a very populated city and visited by a very huge amount of tourists each day. Thus, If it is peace what you’re looking for, New York is not your place. Maybe that is the main reason why people who used to live in big cities move to suburbs when they grow older. I could not imagine myself living in such a big city when I became older. From my point of view, big cities like this are for people full of energy that can handle the stress that this lifestyle provides.

In Venice you will not be bothered by car noises

In London, as it is the capitol of the UK and a very important city, it will be easy to go concerts.

In Milan, as it is the fashion city, you could be updated to fashion trends

This week I have watched a lot of chapters of my favourite TV show “Friends” in English with subtitles in English too. I have also started to read a new book in English called “Beautiful Disaster”

Urban living

URBAN LIVING- Marina Tortosa Freixinós

I couldn’t imagine my life without spending my summer holidays in La Manga. It’s a wonderful place located in the southeast coast of Spain and it belongs to the Region of Murcia.

In this amazing place you can also find an extraordinary peculiarity, because no matter what direction you look at, you are always going to see one of both seas that compose it: on one side is the Mediterranean Sea and on the other the Mar Menor.

Unfortunately, there’s no necessity to wait fifty years to see how it is changing. Due to the fact that we aren’t taking care with the nature and the environment, the beaches and the water in general is being polluted increasingly. Moreover, the melting of ice shards and the increasing of the water’s level could produce in the not too distant future that some parts of this place will be submerged.

Because all of these reasons, if we don’t start to propose solutions, we will be regretting it in few years.

Other places where I would like to live would be Honolulu, New York or Madrid.

Madrid is a good place to live because combines at the same time all kinds of culture and modernity.

On the other hand, it would be wonderful to me to life in a place like New York, because it’s a city that impresses you in all the senses and there you can find all the greatest spectacles of the world.

Finally, living in Honolulu could give me the peace or relax that we all need in some moment of our live.

These last weeks I have been improving my English listening new songs in youtube. One of my favourite ones is the version of the song "Perfect"between Ed Sheeran and Beyonce.

In this specific report example we can distinguish between four different points. In the first place, we can see an introduction which is based in defining what is the main purpose of this English book. Moreover, the second point talks about the kind of English grammar it deals with. Besides,  the third  point gives us information about the wide range of vocabulary and finally and by way of conclusion, this report help us to make an useful good of the book by following some steps.  

PROPOSAL

This proposal example provides us with information about how to attract more members to the English-language society. Firstly, we can see an introduction which informs the readers of its principal aim. Secondly, it describes what is the current situation and also what is the principal problem which has provoked the creation of a proposal. Furthermore, in the third point, some recommendations to solve the problem are provided; and last but not least we can see the conclusion, in which we can see the writer´s opinion and some other recommendations.


Reports and proposals have a very similar organization but they are not exactly the same. A report provides us with information about a certain topic while a proposal, apart from informing us, suggests  or proposes something and tries to make some helpful recommendations too.

Funny inventions - MARINA TORTOSA FREIXINOS

Everybody knows how complicated is our daily life for that reason lots of people try to make it funnier and easier, as the saying goes: "For sample, a button".

This first image is a proof of it. Someone anonymous has invented these useful slippers. Into a first sight it might seem something ridiculous, but behind the jokes we realize that is one of the best funny inventions that we all want to have in our property. We perfectly know how dangerous is getting up at midnight without lights trying to drink some water or just going to the toilet. In this way, these slippers could avoid all the night accidents and guide us in the darker.

Another odd but useful invention is shown below. It is about a plastic piece that is collocated in the water tap. It is an object that has been created for helping us in our daily routine; because we brush our teeth at least three times a day and we could save on time using that.

Its use is simpler than it might seem, when you have finished of brushing your teeth you only have to press the end of the plastic tube and rinse your mouth. In order to clean your teeth brush you only have to place the instrument on the tap and let the water pass. 

This week I haven't done anything new for improving my English just continuing with the same that I have been doing the previous weeks.

Being successful in the work involves a mixture of seriousness, responsibility and the ability of knowing the people’s behaviour. For this reason, a successful business should principally include a competent boss and a group of qualified and hardworking staff.  

Obviously we can’t forget the main reason which is why the business will achieve success: the products or the services that they offer. They have to have something different from the rest of the products in the market. For it, it is important to keep in mind that costumers always are looking for a balance between quality and price without losing the originality.

As Forbes magazine put it “all radical ideas that have a good base to build off of are going to be imitated. To avoid getting lost in this competition, companies have to embrace continuous innovation to make sure they're always offering something more than their competitors that makes their business stand out.”

Choose the best 5 things to take into account for a successful business and justify your answer.

-Understand Finance: it is necessary at the same time that essential for the correct running of a company

-Having the Right Attitude and showing Gratitude: these two things can be grouped together because are both essential for avoiding treat people with airs of superiority

- Keeping the Right Friends: it is important to remember at all where you come from and who were in the beginnings and not get carried away by the relations of convenience

-The Importance of Family: share all with your family and let them be part of your success

URBAN LIVING

MY FAVORITE PLACE TO LIVE 

Living in Los Angeles has been my dream since I was a child. LA is a wonderful and beautiful city with many opportunities and things to do and I reckon that it would be my perfect place to live in the future. Trying to imagine myself at the age of 50 is kind of difficult but I consider that living in Los Angeles would be amazing because there are many relaxing places such as the marvelous beaches -Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice- and lots of entertaining places too such as the Walk of Fame, the Griffith Observatory or the different movie studios. Moreover, I would love to work as an English teacher in LA and also have my own house in Malibu where my family and I could enjoy of the beauty and facilities offered by California. All in all, my life there would be based in relaxing and enjoying life to the full.

FUNNY INVENTIONS

Nowadays seems like everything has bee invented and we use it in our daily life. However many things have been invented but no one knows about them. I chose this invention because I actually find it quite useful.

This invention is an umbrella that protects dogs from rain or the sun. I think that it useful because you can walk you dog whenever you want, no matter if it is raining. It is a great idea for puppies, because they also need to be protected. The umbrella is part of the leash and does not seem big, thus it is quite easy t open and close it.  

Nevertheless, related to umbrellas, I found this one which is not useful at all. Even though the idea of a full umbrella is good, the ejection is not, I think this umbrella is too big to carry. Furthermore, it would be so uncomfortable to open it and use it on places with a lot of people. I do not think it is practical.

This week, I have not done anything different to improve my English. I keep listening to music and watching series. I really enjoy doing these two things and I think it really helps me.

FUNNY INVENTIONS

Life is evolving and so are inventions. In the last few decades there has been a "boom" of useless inventions which have caused laughs and jeers but, are these inventions so ridiculous?

 In this case, I have chosen these two pictures of these special  inventions. Firstly, we can see a very strange bib which is used to eat noodles or spaghetti without introducing our hair into them. Moreover, I reckon that it must be very useful for people with long hair as I am because when I am trying to enjoy of a delicious bowl of noodles my hair is always on my face. All in all, I consider this invention very useful and it should be available in some shops.

Another invention related to food is this one. It is a small fan which is used to cool our noodles and spaghetti preventing us from burning our tongues. Even though at first it may seem as a nonsense invention, if we think about it, it could be very helpful in some occasions, letting us enjoy of our meal without impediment.

As every week I have studied English and I have made my homework. Furthermore, I have started a new American TV series which is called "Sons of Anarchy" and I have continued watching "The Originals", both of them in their original version with English subtitles. Last but not least I have been listening to American and English music every single day, something that I believe that helps me a lot.

FUNNY INVENTIONS

Lately, as almost everything is invented, people are inventing kind of useless or funny things, such as the next I am going to show.

This is what I call funny, I mean it is something cute to see a baby with some mops added to his body. At first it seemed unuseful to me but thinkng about it I realized that the main goal of this body with the mops is not clean the house or something like this but to avoid get dirty while he is crawling. Seeing it that way it will be probably useful for babies that are beggining to crawl.






In this case we have kind of hat that protects babies for getting water in their eyes while the are having a shower. In the picture it seems like it is stupid but thinking about it it is not and I could say thatthis is useful because I had shower a baby and it is complicated not to wet their
faces.











WHAT I HAVE DONE THIS WEEK 

I consider that I always do the same but music and tv series are my absolutely passion. I am always listening to music, I do not exaggerate when I say that I listen music always, when I am going to the University, when I am cooking, when I am cleaning my room or when I am having a shower.  And I normally listen more music in English than in Spanish, thus it help me a lot to improve my English.
Moreover I see a lot of series but this week I have been focused on one, Stranger things, I always see them in English and with subtitles in English too.
